Enjoy Your Health To Fully Enjoy The Fruits Of Your Labour…
When asked what surprised him most about humanity, the Dalai Lama replied: “Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health”. What a paradox when it comes to your health and to enjoy the fruits of your labour?
The above statement should cut to the core of your conscience. Think about it. Have you made time to Fully enjoy the fruits of your labour? You spend your life working day in and day out. Yes… you have bought your home which you take pride in; you’ve got your family, your dream car/s on the drive, a few life luxuries and of course, the means to enjoy your holiday at least twice a year. Pause for a moment and think…What about your health? In the process of creating your lifestyle have you thought about taking steps to prolong it to fully enjoy the fruits of your labour? Contrarily, health is not a respecter of person. For health to respect you, you’ve got to respect it.
Your Body Is a Temple

Making yourself feel good physically is one of the ultimate ways to respect yourself. Treat your body as you would the body of someone you love dearly. Healthy food, exercise, low stress. In addition, you may have heard the saying that your body is a temple and should be revered. Moreover, a temple is a place where people enjoy worship; therefore do you worship your body, meaning do you look after it? Your body serves you every day and is the vessel through which you strive towards your hopes and dreams. Taking care of your body on the outside alone is not enough. In fact, to look after your body coupled with your health to fully enjoy the fruits of your labour starts within.
Looking after your body from a health perspective
From a health point of view, I believe it’s important to start from the boiler room. Putting it another way; if you want to know what the temperature is going to be, you don’t look at the gauge on the wall, instead, you go to the boiler room. Of course, outwardly appearance is important; however, health begins within (The boiler room).
Here are some simple steps to take to look after your body
- Firstly, a regular check-up with your G.P.
- Avoid stress as much as possible
- Enough sleep and rest is imperative for the mind to function properly
- Drink at least two litres of water each day (beneficial to the neuro system)
- Having a healthy diet
- Light exercise; for example, a brisk 20 minutes walk each day
- Some supplements to ensure the body has all it needs
- Last but not least; cleansing the body of unwanted products
Enjoy the Fruits Of Your Labour
Here is a quote from Ecclesiastes which sums up the aspect to enjoy the fruits of your labour:
I have seen personally what is the only beneficial and appropriate course of action for people:
to eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all their hard work on earth during the few days of their life which God has given them, for this is their reward.
To every man whom God has given wealth, and possessions, he has also given him the ability to eat from them, to receive his reward and to find enjoyment in his toil; these things are the gift of God.
I add here, therefore enjoy the fruits of your labour; it’s what you’ve spent many years toiling for.
So, Look after your health, meaning mind and body, to fully enjoy the fruits of your labour. After all, it’s your God-given right.
